Spice It Up! 21 Day Fix approved spice mixes

Hi friends!

For me, food has to have flavor or it is no fun at all. And let's be real...food should be fun! When I started my first round of 21 Day Fix I worked hard to decrease my salt intake (it was a bit crazy!), but I did that simply by cutting out the bulk of my salt. I also stuck with super basic things like chicken and eggs during my first round. I wanted to make sure I understood this new system. Hello, boring food! It made me sad, and no one wants to be sad.

Then I discovered these, and my whole world changed! Food tasted good again, and I was a happy camper!

You need these spice mixes in your life. I'm not even making that up! They are delicious on just about everything, and you will never have to worry about sad food again. Hooray for happy food!

So....here we go!

All-Purpose Seasoning

When I say all-purpose, I mean all-purpose! This blend is good on all things savory. It is delicious on chicken and perfection on eggs!

4 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp mustard powder
1/4 tsp ground thyme
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp sea salt

 Southwestern Seasoning

We are big taco fans in our house. They show up on our menu plan at least once a month, and if we aren't having them for dinner I prep taco meat anyway to have on hand for salads. Packaged taco seasoning can be full of all sorts of weird ingredients. This has none of those, and tastes delicious!

1 Tbsp chili powder
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp coriander
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp sea salt

Mediterranean Seasoning

If you like all things Greek, this is for you! I love to toss this on chicken with a little lemon before I roast it. YUM!

4 Tbsp dried parsley, crushed
4 tsp dried onion flakes
2 tsp dried basil, crushed
1 tsp ground oregano
1 tsp ground thyme
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper

I keep my spice blends in these spice jars from IKEA (similar, similar, similar). They live in my spice cabinet with the rest of my spices and are usually the first thing I grab. If you are trying to decrease your salt intake, while avoiding sad food, these are your winners!

Be bright. Be fit.
