My 2016 Reading List

Hello, friends!

I have a lot of favorite things, but books are pretty much at the top of the list. I used to be an exclusively fiction reader, but over the last year or so I have really dug deep into personal development and have fallen in love! Whether it is from a business perspective or a faith perspective I always want to be reading something that is challenging me and growing me.

I've set some pretty big goals in terms of the books I want to tackle this year. Here is the full list, plus some of my favorite ways to make sure I get them all in!

Business Development- A huge part of my daily business practice is reading personal development. I love book that help me set goals, learn to understand people better and, as my team grows, lead them with integrity. I'm pretty excited about this list!
4 Dimensions of Extraordinary Leadership - Jenni Catron is a phenominal Christian woman. I got this book for Christmas and I absolutely love the way she breaks down leadership.
Push - I have actually already read this book by Chalene Johnson, but it is one of those quick reads that is worth revisiting every year. If you struggle with setting goals, this is the book for you!
Mom, Inc. - I read Blog, Inc when I first started blogging many moons ago. This edition is mean for all Mompreneurs, no matter their home-based business.
Eat That Frog - This one has been sitting on my kindle for I don't even know how long. What's it about? Beating procrastination. Yes, I can appreciate the irony.
People Over Profit - I always want to make sure that people are the focus of my business. If I ever get things twisted around, I am in a bad place!
The 360* Leader - I am a big John C Maxwell fan! I have read several of his 101 series and loved them.
Let’s All Be Brave - I struggle sometimes with being brave. I think we could all use some more bravery in our lives!
Unstoppable - I absolutely adore Christine Caine. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on this one!
The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth - Another one from John C Maxwell. This book is on any professional development list you can find and it is on my must-read list!
EntreLeadership - We started following Dave Ramsey's financial advice several years ago and it has changed our lives. I'm pretty excited to see what he has to say about business!
Marketplace Christianity - I firmly believe that you don't have to be IN ministry to DO ministry. I want my business to be my ministry, and this book sounds wonderful!
Lead Like Jesus - I don't know about you, but I can't think of a better leadership mentor! ;)
Make it Happen - Lara Casey is phenomenal. I was devastated when her PowerSheets sold out before I could get my hands on them. I guess I'll have to settle for her book, hahaha!
Daring Greatly - If you haven't heard about Brene Brown this year than you must have been hiding somewhere! You can only hear amazing things so many times before it has to be added to the list!
Rising Strong - Again. Brene Brown. 'Nuff said.
Superlife - This one is less about business and more about nutrition, but when your business involves nutrition it counts!

Just Mercy - Balancing justice and mercy is tough in this world. This book has been recommended by several different people and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
31 Days of Prayer for the Dreamer and Doer - My prayer life is not what I would like it to be. I've heard fantastic things about this one!
Women of the Word - Another thing I have wanted to improve lately is my actual study of scripture. It's not something I feel solid with on my own, and this is supposed to be an incredible tool.
Jesus Feminist - I love me some Sarah Bessey! I have followed her blog for years, and this is another one that has been on my kindle for WAY too long!
Out of Sorts - This one is Sarah Bessey's newest. I have several friends who helped launch it and all of them loved it! That's enough for me!
Interrupted - If you have followed me on social media for more than a few months you know my love of Jen Hatmaker. I was privileged to help her launch her most recent book, For The Love, and this one is supposed to be a life-shaker. I could use some life shaking!
Brimstone - Honestly? This one came up as a suggested book because of most of this list. I saw it and went "oooooh!" which is enough for me!
Curious Faith - This is another book that I have the privilege of helping to launch. I am reading it right now and it is beautiful. It helps us break down the boxes we put God in and gets us to find wonder in Him again. I am LOVING it!
Made to Crave - Food and I aren't always friends. I have started this book probably three times already. This is the year to finish it and start tackling some demons!

This list is almost entirely recommendations from friends! I love reading fiction, but I tend to get stuck on one author (I'm looking at you, James Patterson!). I'm trying to break out of some fiction habits and opened things up to my facebook page! This is the list so far.
The Cuckoo’s Calling

OK, so how, exactly, do you tackle a book list like this? I know some people could read physical copies of this many books with no problem, but I am not one of them! While many of these will be hard copy books, a lot of them will be e-books! I am in LOVE with listening to books. I can listen in the car, or while I'm cleaning. I even got a bluetooth speaker for my shower! Seriously. Obsessed!

I've found a few great reading challenges online recently. One is this one from Modern Mrs Darcy. I love that it pulls from different categories, but not the standard genres. Some of the books on my list fit into the categories and others I will have to find other books to fill. It should get me out of some reading habits!
If you are feeling super ambitious you can work on the Rory Gilmore Challenge. I LOVE Gilmore Girls, so this is a fun one. I certainly can't tackle it all in one year (hello, it's 339 books long!) but I would love to chip away at it over time!

So these are my lists. Would you add anything to them? Hit me up with your suggestions!

Be bright. Be fit.
